August has been a wonderful month for Cuckmere Haven SOS, starting with the sublime Lapwing Music Festival, and concluding with the Coastguard Cottages Craft Fair.
Number 6 hosted the Craft Fair, and opened its doors for the first time. We were all blown away by the response, and the out-pouring of love and support for the campaign. The weekend raised £1000 for the charity, so we can’t thank all our visitors enough for their generosity.
The family of number 6 (going back to the Coastguard), has a number of talented artists in its midst, including the late Rosalee Ayres, the wife of the Coastguards son. Janet Mutter, her daughter, has said how thrilled she would be to know how popular her paintings proved, and even more pleased that they were helping to preserve the place she held most dear.
Huge thanks go out to all the artists and craftspeople involved, our friends, volunteers, and particularly Sophie Mutter (#wearemountain), who organised and ran the event, and spoke tirelessly to all our visitors.
Next year will be bigger and better, with even more arts and crafts to enjoy (and yes, next time there will be cake!) If you didn’t make it this time round, be sure to catch us in 2017.
