Only a week earlier, Chrissie Reidy from BBC Sussex came to do a story on our fundraising campaign. We had a great day with her, however the story was deemed to be 'not dramatic enough' by BBC editors as we didn't focus on the damage that had already occured. Storm Imogen was therefore a blessing in disguise, as Chrissie was able to return to complete the story with new, very dramatic footage.
An emergency working bee was set up for the weekend of the 20th and 21st of February. Volunteers were called upon and the Saturday was spent pouring large amounts of concrete to fill up the gaps. Unfortunately, overnight this work was all washed away! News of that event caught the attention of BBC South East, and Ian Palmer came on the Sunday to film a short piece. These videos have been viewed over 20000 times combined, creating a wonderful buzz around our campaign and providing us with some excellent promotional material.
We are so grateful to Chrissie Reidy, Ian Palmer and the BBC for their work, and to all our volunteers.
